Biography

Catherine Fortin-Laurin is a civil and commercial litigation lawyer at LLT. She focuses her practice on complex commercial disputes, shareholder conflicts, and extraordinary remedies, primarily representing companies, officers, and entrepreneurs before the courts, including the Quebec Court of Appeal. Her practice covers disputes between business partners, corporate governance conflicts, oppression remedies, as well as disputes involving contractual obligations and restrictive covenants, including non-competition and non-solicitation clauses. Catherine has particular experience in injunctions and extraordinary proceedings, including Anton Piller orders. She also acts as independent supervising solicitor in the execution of such orders — a role that requires procedural rigour and sound judgment in contexts where the stakes are immediate and the margin for error is non-existent. Catherine approaches every file with rigour and pragmatism, working quickly to identify the determining issues and her clients' business objectives. Her approach is strategic, structured, and tailored to the specific reality of each dispute. Calm under pressure and accessible, she guides her clients with clarity through complex and sensitive situations.
